Privacy Notice
Last updated: 7 September 2026
This Privacy Notice explains how Righters Produce ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects personal data when you use our film production platform and related services (the "Service"). Righters Produce is the data controller for personal data processed through the Service.
1. Personal data we collect
- Account data: name, email address, password (hashed), and profile details you provide.
- Content data: screenplays, story bibles, storyboards, budgets, schedules, and files you upload to your projects.
- Support data: messages and attachments you send us when you contact support.
- Usage & telemetry: pages visited, features used, device identifiers, IP address, and diagnostic logs.
- Cookies: essential cookies for authentication and session management; optional analytics cookies where enabled.
2. Why we use your data
- To create and secure your account and provide the Service (contract performance).
- To respond to support requests and communicate about your subscription (contract / legitimate interests).
- To prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents (legitimate interests, legal obligation).
- To improve product features and reliability (legitimate interests).
- With your consent, to send optional product updates or marketing.
3. Who we share data with
- Payment processor — DPO Pay: Direct Pay Online (DPO Group) processes card and mobile payments and invoicing on our behalf and receives the personal data required for those purposes. We never store your full card details.
- Infrastructure & subprocessors: hosting, database, storage, email delivery, and analytics providers that operate the Service on our behalf under contract.
- Professional advisers: lawyers, accountants, and auditors where necessary.
- Authorities: where required by law, court order, or to protect our rights.
We do not sell your personal data.
4. International transfers
Your data may be processed outside your country of residence. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent mechanisms.
5. Retention
We keep your personal data for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period afterwards to meet legal, tax, and accounting obligations. Project content is retained until you delete it or close your account, after which it is deleted or anonymised within a reasonable period.
6. Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or port your personal data, to object to processing, and to withdraw consent. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. To exercise these rights, contact us using the details below.
7. Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures — including encryption in transit, access controls, and least-privilege permissions — to protect your data. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. AI features and your content
Your creative content — screenplays, story bibles, storyboards, budgets, schedules, notes, and any files you upload — belongs to you. We do not use your content to train artificial intelligence or machine-learning models, and we do not sell, licence, or otherwise share it with third parties for their own training or marketing purposes.
When you choose to use an AI feature, the specific text needed for that request is sent to our AI processing provider solely to generate your result and return it to you. These providers act as our processors under contract on API terms that prohibit using submitted content to train their models. AI features are opt-in per action: if you never invoke them, your content is never sent anywhere for AI processing.
9. Cookies
We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and to remember your preferences. Where analytics or marketing cookies are used, you can manage them through your browser settings.
10. Changes to this notice
We may update this Privacy Notice from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the Service or by email.
